Professor Bill Mapleson
The Centre is named after the famous Professor Mapleson, who classified breathing systems in his British Journal of Anaesthesia paper in 1954 and went on to have significant achievements related to pharmacokinetics and ventilators.
At a major ceremony on 22nd May 2014, Professor Mapleson was there to celebrate the opening in the presence of dignitaries such as the Health Minister, Mark Drayford, Cardiff University Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Elizabeth Treasure and Professor Judith Hall from Cardiff University School of Medicine, joined by over 100 guests.

Professor Hall is a serial thinker, innovator and educator in the clinical space.
She has won very many innovation and impact award in the Wales and the UK, including an OBE.
She has built and run many state of the art simulation centres in the UK and now in Africa.
She has handled numerous large grants on behalf of organisations like Innovate UK Judith can really help you with your education and innovation needs.
She is a Consultant Anaesthetist very active as a clinician.
Dr Brian Jenkins

Brian Jenkins is a clinical academic, working in Cardiff University and the NHS.
He is a Senior Lecturer in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine and Honorary Consultant.
His main interests are quality, medical education and training.
