Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Seminar - New Date coming Soon!
This webinar is a collaboration between the University of Namibia and Cardiff University.
The objective of the Webinar is to continue the conversation that emanates from the #Shutitalldown Protests against sexual and gender based violence in Namibia. This webinar will shed light on the demands and petitions from the protesters. As University communities in Namibia and the UK we will discuss SGBV prevalence as it affects each of our societies. We will also shed light on the safety and security of our students and staff.
Sexual and Gender Based Violence (GBV) depicts any harmful act that is perpetrated against women, girls, boys, and men that is based on socially ascribed differences between males and females. It includes acts that inflict physical, sexual or mental harm and suffering, threats of such acts, and other deprivations of liberty. SGBV comprises of a variety of human rights violations including sexual violence, exploitation, and abuse.
It is our hope that this Webinar encourage the exchange of practical examples of how SGBV can be addressed by various sectors of society including those in university spaces.
